I mean, I've never wanted to relive college. This book made me relive college and part of grad school, but without gaining any additional insight. There's kind of an uncomfortable pleasure in seeing parts of your life retold in someone else's narrative - in fact, the main character experiences that very feeling, and it changes her life. That's why we study literature and theory; it's life-changing. But I mostly came away from this book grossed out that my textual infatuation of Roland Barthes is shared by such an unlikeable character who makes such terrible decisions.
