Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore

Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore - Robin Sloan A cute, fast read that checks off a lot of boxes on the zeitgeisty list, particularly with an inside-baseball look at Google Books. The prose styling is a little thin and precious, and might have turned me off if it hadn't been for all the checked boxes on my personal-identification-with-narrator list: he's a marketer, feels awkward about his bitextuality (loves paperbacks AND ebooks), feels awkward about his post-recession professional floundering, digs nerdy role-playing games, is awed by museums. For these tugs at my heartstrings, I'm willing to forgive the uninteresting "mysterious" character and the equally uninspiring romance, and enjoy a playful and (for now) timely exploration of our modern ways and means of passing knowledge.
